Here are some questions that many of our clients have asked over the years about working with an attorney. If you have additional questions, please write us or call us at (772) 567-1900.
Q: I’ve never talked to an attorney before. I’m afraid I won’t understand all the legal terminology. A: A good attorney should be able to cut through any legal jargon and explain your rights and options to you in clear, straightforward terms. Part of our job is to answer all of your questions, share as much information as we have, and help you make informed decisions about your situation.
Q: How do I know an attorney won’t promise me the moon just to get me to hire him? A: An attorney’s responsibility is to tell you the unvarnished truth about your situation. If you have a case that’s not strong enough to pursue, our job is to tell you that. And if we feel that a different attorney could handle your particular case more effectively, we’ll tell you that too.
Q: I’m facing an extremely painful family situation. How can I explain to a stranger what I’m going through? A: First, you should know that attorneys take the doctrine of “attorney–client privilege” very seriously. That means that anything you share with your attorney, stays with your attorney—no exceptions. You should also know that our role isn’t to make judgments about your situation. Our role is to listen, to understand your challenges and your needs, and to help you achieve a positive resolution.
